Sacred India

India is known as the land of saints and sages. Though, the west has also known a number of saints such as Franciscus of Assisi, nowadays we are not much accustomed to having saints in our society. In India, even today there are still many living saints, sometimes living isolated in a secluded place, sometimes in an ashram (a type of monastery), sometimes in or on a sacred place. Nowhere in the world are there as many sacred places as in India. The power of these places attracts countless people and for many of them, to make a pilgrimage to one or several holy places is a true blessing.
